Hi Everyone,
Well, Bernie has finally come home after four months in hospital having his stem cell transplant. The hospital have let him come home as they have told us that there is nothing more that they can do for him. The Cancer has shrunk, but they have said it will come back. I am able to manage him with the help of all that lifting equipment etc., but I am having a steep learning curve with my nursing skills. Still, we are managing and it is just so wonderful to have him home with us again. He can't walk more than a few steps, and has lost nearly 40 kilograms in weight. Trying to tempt him with food is hard as his saliva and taste "system" has been knocked out by the transplant, and everything tastes dreadful to him. He needs blood transfusions and platelet transfusions every three days, as his blood is not producing enough "goodies" for his body. All in all, we are still in a pickle, but at least we are all home together.
I have moved my bear making gear into the living room so that I can be with him through the day. I have promised three bears and one for bobo for the upcoming show, and so I need to get cracking. It has been so long since I have made a bear, I shall have to think about it!
Thanks so much for all your good wishes. I hope that I can now visit the board a lot more now that I don't have all the travelling to the hospital and back.

Hi Christine, glad to hear your hubby is home, hospitals are hard to be around all the time especially the travelling and trying to keep your house and family as well as keep up your own spirits and health, so it will be great to be at home a little more often. Hoping you all have a wonderful Christmas, take care.

Hi Christine...I don't think there is one amongst us that won't be thinking of you at this time. Enjoy your Christmas together and make as many fond memories as you can. And try and keep those pinkies out of the dye pot!
