Teddy Bears and Critters - Australasia

I thought that I'd start the ball rolling here in the newbie section.

Hello, my name is Lisa and I live in Derby, UK. I've been making bears and critters since Jan '07, I still consider myself as a noob (a word my kids are so fond of using these days) and am keen to learn and improve all the time. You guys really inspire me with your fantastic creations.

I love the idea of a site dedicated to artists living in one area of the world and you guys seem to have so much fun on this site, particularly during the shows. I wish that we had something similar in the UK. It makes me want to emigrate to Australasia.

Hi Lisa, Lovely to have you on board. Yes we are so lucky to have this site thanks to Sandi! The online show and comp. was my first and it was wonderfully exciting, everyone had a ball.

You know there is nothing stopping you from joining us...we already have two Affiliate Members from the UK who join us for the International Shows and The A.C.D. Awards are open to everyone in 2010.

I'd love to have a go in the ACD awards but not being able to sharpen my picture after resizing is a real problem for me. My camera takes large images which go soft after resizing, even if the shot is perfectly in focus. So no matter how well I set up the tripod, lighting etc my shots will all be soft after resizing. For me to submit a soft focus shot is like having a crooked seam on my creation, I just can't bring myself do it.

In the mean time I'll give some serious thought into joining as an affilite member.

This is a wonderfully friendly site and Sandi works really hard for us in coming up with new ideas and keeping everything current. You'll enjoy it here. Wait till you do a 24-hour show with these gals as we did in the Valentine show. They can get really wild when a little sleep deprived and a glass of wine.

Whew! The picture is 2.44MB in size. Expect it in a few minutes or......maybe more. Scamp asks you to forgive him if you see any of his hairs out of place in the picture.
