Hi all - we've had one of the most emotionally taxing days ever - I'll be glad to hit the sack tonight!  Our youngest daughter Nikki was involved in a pretty bad car accident this morning - her car skidded in the rain and swung around on to the other side of the road where she was hit by another car coming in the opposite direction.  Fortunately, both Nikki and the other lady were fine - badly shaken and a bit bruised, but otherwise OK.  The car however, is totalled.

Anyway, as they say ... you can replace a car but you can't replace people.  How true!

Hugs

Marg

I just saw the car on FB and it looked like a very serious accident. What a scare. Glad everything is okay with Nikky and the other lady.

Sounds like she was a very lucky young lady to survive a totalled car. Go and buy a lotto ticket...it's a biggy this weekend!

Glad no-one was badly injured.

Its very scary when that happens. It makes you realise how quickly life can change.

My son was on the bus that crashed near Portland Vic a couple of months ago. He was thrown out of the bus window and luckily only had cuts and bruises and shock. But the other 3 who were thrown out weren't so lucky - the bus rolled on them and they were killed. Someone was looking after him.!!

My God Marg, go buy that ticket or maybe Nikki should! So relieved that all are OK.

Lesley, how terrible for your son, I remember when I was a kid my brother was in an accident in which one of his friends was killed, I think it took him years to recover, he kinda went off the rails a bit for a while.

You must have ben beside yourself!!! My daughter is nearly 4 and I'm hoping someone invents a Doctor Who barrier that is around vehicles so that if they get too close both fly up in the air and come back down safe and on track again...any inventors out there.

Hope your daughter is OK and glad to hear your son is all good too Lesley!

Hi Marg, No wonder you are exhaused.  What a terrible thing for your family to go through.  Thanks goodness all involved were alright.  Big hugs to all of you and I hope things settle down again soon.  That is the type of news you never really want to hear - your child in a car accident.

thanks everyone for your kind wishes - it's always nice to know that there's always friends here who care about each other.  Nikki is fine - still a bit sore & bruised but that's to be expected.  Should hear from the insurance co. this week - car will almost certainly be written off, so I guess it's now a case of finding a new set of wheels (and trying to retrieve whatever we can from the car that hasn't been squashed)

I think this experience has certainly been Nikki's 'wake up call' - and although she's not the only one out there who does this, I don't know how many times Russ and I have told her to not drive so close to the car in front without leaving a response gap.   When I was taught to drive, we were told to leave a car length for every 10klms of speed travelled.   I wonder if the driving schools today still teach this?

Christine - so good to hear from you.   Hope Bernie is doing OK.

Hugs

Marg

Hi Marg,

I am so glad that everything has worked out O.K . I can think of  nothing worse that having to be told that there has been a car accident. It is worry when your children are driving and I don't think it ever stops.

Cheers Susan
