Glenn and I are very proud to sponsor Bobo on behalf of our all our members.
Bobo is a male Sun bear and was one of the first bears to arrive at the sanctuary in Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre, Cambodia. He was captured from the wild as a cub and kept as a pet in a bookstore in Phnom Penh until, at three years of age, he became unmanageable. His owner donated him to Phnom Tamao in October 2000.
Now, Bobo is one of the more sociable male Sun bears, living happily with two other males, Mom and Lux, who he has known since he arrived. This trio recently moved to a new enclosure in the bachelor male house and so enjoy making the most of their new pool and climbing frames.
Bobo gets on particularly well with Mom, who is a very gentle natured bear, but has a more brotherly relationship with Lux who, although younger, is now the biggest of the trio and likes to throw his newly found weight around from time to time.
It is not only great men and women who change the world. We all can in our own small way. A little part of the world will become different because of us and will be changed for the better, if each of us lead by setting a good example.
Whether you love teddy bears, or like me, you love and believe bears contribute to our lives in ways other than being the inspiration for the teddy bear. Please visit
and do what you can to help the bears to survive. Then, in years to come, your children and your children’s children will still be able to see them . . . enjoying life in the wild.

Our Bobo page has proved to be a popular stop for most viewing our web site, so we thought you might like to see a few more of the rescued bears.

Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time.
